They had 2
teams, 1 to Lhotse and 1, small, to Everest. The first one summited on 16th
May with 3 members: Romano Benet, Luca Vuerich and Nives Meroi. Nives is now
the only living woman to have accomplished 7 eightthousanders (together with
Romano Benet, her husband): Shishapangma, Cho Oyu, Nanga Parbat, GI, GII and
Broad Peak (in the same season) and Lhotse. They climbed all these peaks in a
lightweight style, without using neither supplemental oxygen nor high altitude
porters. The second was a small commercial team made of 1 Argentinian guide, 1
American client and 2 Sherpas. They all summited on 18th may with oxygen, but
tragically the client died during the descent. The guide and the Sherpas
reached the base camp safely 2 days later. Best wishes, Manuel
