Three die in helicopter accident in Nepal

A helicopter belonging to Dynasty Air has crashed near Bhandara, Ramechhap district in Nepal. All three people died as the Ecureuil helicopter according to officials at the Rescue Coordination Committee (RCC), Tribhuvan International Airport. The dead are the captain of the helicopter and his two passengers: Pemba Gelu Sherpa (captain), and PT Sherpa and P Sherpa (who was only 9 years old).

Reportedly, the helicopter left Kathmandu at 8:05 a.m. and was to land at Lukla (gateway to Everest) at 9:15 hours. The helicopter wreckage was located at 9,200 feet near Bhandara. Some are reporting the helicopter was headed to Everest base camp to pick up trekkers (EverestNews.com has not confirmed where the helicopter was headed).

Trans Himalayan Tours and Travels was chartering the helicopter.  The army traced the wreckage of the helicopter to southern Dolakaha district, a Maoist stronghold. The reason for the accident is being investigated...
