Yesterday,
a nice day, we left Base Camp towards Camp I. We filled our
backpacks with two tents, gas, rope, stoves,..., well, a lot of weigh and we
had the noon sun on us along the way, which made the march difficult.
We arrived to a point at some
5,700 m. at around an hour from where our first high altitude camp will be,
which we think is around 5,800 m. We left a depot there with all the material
we had on our backs and we went back to Base Camp. The path is long and hard
to find: crevasses, seracs... A lot of load and trying to find the way made
the day especially hard.
We will rest today, although
we may need one more day to recover. On the next day, we will leave with some
more rope and we will settle, using the material we left in the depot, Camp I.
We hope the wind from China,
a sign of good weather, continues blowing. Carlos
