Update 5/26/2004: Mariana Maslarova is now being reported as dead by the Sofia news agency and by her agent. Her agent has stated that Brazilian climbers have found her dead. It appears that the Sofia news agency report of her being seen alive by the "Russians have spotted Mariana Maslarova at camp 2 at a height of 7800 meters" was false...

Update 5/25/2004: Mariana Maslarova; It is reported the "Russians have spotted Mariana Maslarova at camp 2 at a height of 7800 meters" According to the Sofia news agency (We do NOT have confirmation that she is alive, nor do we know the source of this report that they carry, as they list no source.)

Update 5/24/2004: Mariana Maslarova, reportedly was asked to turn around numerous times... High concern for Mariana Maslarova right now, as her location appears to be unknown.

Mariana is the wife of Ivan Maslarov who is the head of the Bulgarian Federation of Alpine Clubs, and is the niece of Hristo Prodanov, who was the first climber from Bulgaria to summit Everest, only to die on his way back from the summit. See his story here.
