Italian expedition Everest/K2 2004 expedition

Today at the base camp an intimate party took place to celebrate the birthday of Soro Dorotei, the vice expedition leader who is now 53 years old.

Most of people could not participate as they were between the intermediate and the advanced base camp. In the next few days a new group of researchers should be joining us and, in the meantime, mountaineers will start setting up Camp1 at the North Col and Camp 2 at 7800 m.asl.

The weather is nice and warm and even the strong winds seem to have stopped.

Yesterday, during an excursion to Rongbuck monastery, a herd of bharal (blue sheep) was sighted and photographed. It is one of most typical himalayan animals.
