Updates
from Everest camps!
4/30 Everest - base camp: Jet
stream is on its way towards the Himalays. Incredibly strong blizzards will
hit the Everest, Kanchenjunga and Annapurna areas, starting from this evening.
According to weather forecasts at around 7000 (North Col) strong wind should
be to avarage 25 m/s around 90 km/h.
5/01 Bergamo - Everest base camp: We overheard some of the conversation
between the expedition leader and his vice Soro Dorotei : "Agostino, advanced
base camp is finally functioning! It was very hard putting everything at its
place but all team members worked with great enthusiasm and this is how we
made it!. As you know camp I was set up and in an amazing place. We are taking
turns at sleeping at 7000 m to complete acclimatization to high altitudes. The
wind doesn't allow us to go further high." Today's news also concerns the
birth of Emilia Mondinelli! A beautiful and healthy baby girl (3,5 Kg, 51 Cm)
Silvio "Gnaro" Mondinelli's daughter. To celebrate the event Italian typical
alpine food was cooked by "Chef "Mario Merelli!

But K2 2004 newborn babies
are two: Michele Comi's wife, K2 2004 expedition member who will, next month,
leave Italy to reach K2 Base Camp, gave birth to Isacco, a baby boy (3,9 Kg).
