The Italian expedition Everest/K2
organized by
Agostino Da Polenza is
going to leave Italy the first days of April with the
intention to climb Everest from the north side and once
they will reach the top measure the altitude of this
peak with special instruments.
After 10 days from they return at home, around the
5th June the plan is to go on K2 to celebrate the first ascent. In fact one
group of climbers will try from the south (including Silvio Mondinelli and
Mario Merelli), another from the north (including Nives Meroi and Romano Benet).
All the 33 climbers that formed these 2 expeditions are
Italian and together with them there will be around 20 researchers that will
make tests on the snow and rocks of both of the mountains so they will be able
to study the increase of the pollution.

Silvio
Mondinelli, (1958), Mountain Guide, Alagna Valsesia, Italy
reached the Summit of Everest
without Oxygen on the 23rd May 2001. Since then he
has added several summits of 8000 meter peaks.
We covered
Silvio Mondinelli on
Autumn Annapurna 2002,
Winter Broad Peak,
, Kangchenjunga.,

and more..
