Update 4/20/2004: IMG assistant leader Jason Tanguay
returned to Base Camp and reports that seven members (Dan, Swee, Ron, Brien,
Kevin, Mike, and himself) have all been up to the bergschrund at the base of
the Lhotse Face for acclimatization (about 22,700 feet). Brad and Will spent
a couple nights at Camp 2 (about 21,000 feet). Mark Tucker is now up at Camp
1, heading for Camp 2 on his own acclimatization bid and everyone seems to be
doing well. The winds were very strong up high (sounded like a freight train)
but Jason reports that Camp 2 did not get blasted too much, which is good news
since it is not unusual to have tents get destroyed up there in big
storms. Several of the IMG Sherpas have already climbed up to Camp 3 to start
setting up tents and to reserve camp sites. So far so good!
