Update 5/1/2004:
All members of the IMG team are
now back at Base Camp after sleeping for at least one night at Camp 3, with
Jason, Kevin, and Brien spending two nights at Camp 3. All members are fine
and looking forward to some well deserved rest prior to the summit bids.
Will, Brad, and Mike are going to go down to Dingboche for some thicker air!.
The IMG Sherpas are up at Camp 2 to finish stocking the Camp 4 at the Col, but
they were turned back today due to high wind on the Lhotse Face. Everyone is
doing well in the Sherpa team. Jason reports that today " Tuck and Willy
(Benegas) set up a simulated summit ridge/Hillary step with 400 feet of fixed
line and numerous anchors in the lower icefall-- we (tuck , jason & willy)
imitated delirious individuals along the route creating bottlenecks and
causing problems that our customers had to get around while wearing goggles,
masks and big gloves. Points were deducted and lashes were applied if gloves
or glasses were removed. All participants had a good time and thought it a
useful exercise".
