climb 8167 meter high Mt. Dhaulagiri on 14th May 2004 at 04.00 P.M.

Twelve members "Spanish
Dhaulagiri Expedition 2004" was permitted to climb 8167 meter high Mt.
Dhaulagiri from North East Ridge for the period of seventy-five days from 10th
April 2004 under the leadership of Mr. Jose Antonio Pujante Contesa,
Barcelona, Spain.
This Expedition team is
organized by Thamserku Trekking P. Ltd., Kathmandu, Nepal.

informs from Base:
Víctor and Xavi made it to
the Summit!!!!!!!!!!!!
Under adverse weather
conditions they could step on the so coveted summit of Dhaulagiri.
The met Damian at 7,400 to
return to Base Camp. We are all waiting for their return to Celebrate.
Thursday 05/13/04
Joaquín informs from Base: Horacio,
Mijel, Fabián and the Sherpa quit their climb to the summit and go down to
Base Camp with Agustín.
Víctor, Damián and Xavi and
another Sherpa meet in Camp 3 and start the attack to the summit at 18:00 Hrs,
Argentina time (3:00 AM Katmandu)

They
arrived to their Base Camp (4650 m.) on April 15, via Kuala Lumpur, New Delhi,
Katmandu, Pokhara and Jomson.
They
joined a Basque and a Catalan expedition there. There is also a Slovenian
expedition and they report that Alan Hinkes, British, who has 12 of 14
eight-thousand meter peaks, will climb to join them soon. They had their Puja
on the 18th and began installing the fixed lines the next day. They had bad
weather for several days and they were concerned that the mountain is
different from what they had seen in pictures, so they didn't know if the
lines they had were going to be enough. By May 3 they had gone as far as Camp
3, but the bad weather made them climb down.
On May 6
they report they made two teams:
Argentinean team: Horacio
Cunietti, Víctor Herrera, Miguel Lotfi and Fabián Iribas.
