Lithuanian expedition reaches the Main summit of Shishapangma 5/16/2004

This Lithuanian expedition is the 2nd only Lithuanians expedition to Himalaya. First one was organised in 1993 autumn to Mt. Everest from the north side (Nobody summited. Current expedition is organised by Saulius Vilius-lithuanian climber who last year summited Mt Everest with the Estonian expedition.

List of the current lithuanian expedition  members: Saulius Vilius (leader), Mindaugas Leskauskas (expedition doctor), Saulius Rudnickas, Eugenijus Simanauskas, Algirdas Kumza, Vytas Gaucys and Algirdas Jonaitis. As you see there are no local guides or sherpas. Expedition just have the cook and the kitchen boy.

Some details: 2005-04-15 team arrived to Tibet.

2005-05-15 all the 7 members climbed up to Camp III(7300m)

2005-05-16 in the morning it  was decided that only 3 climbers will go for the summit  - Eugenijus Simaniauskas, Saulius Rudnickas and Mindaugas Leskauskas.

The rest of the team were going down. 2005-05-16  at 14:30 Tibetian time the youngest member and expedition doctor -Mindaugas Leskaukas - reached the main summit of Shishapangma  - 8027m. this information from expedition leader - Saulius Vilius by the satelite phone call just few hours ago
