KOSCIUSKO, IN WINTER, THE LATEST
CONTINENTAL SUMMIT
Once again, as in the last
Migote's expedition to Everest, cameraman and producer Albert Barceló will be
his company in this expedition. Televisió de Catalunya (Catalunya's TV) wants
to participate in the culmination of this project, getting involved in the
production of a documentary which shows each step of Parets als sostres
Continentals proyect.
They will leave Barcelona
next Tuesday, July 27th, at 18:00 hours. They will fly to Australia, and from
Sidney towards the Australian Alps, they'll travel 700 kilometers to Junbadyne,
the closest town to the mountain. The trip takes some seven hours by car,
passing the typical towns of the Southeast zone of Australia, like Cooma, the
capital of the Country Canberra, and many other towns. The time difference in
Australia is some 10 hours.
The base camp will be mounted
on the shore of lake Jindabyne, at 930 meters. On summit day they will go
towards the little shelter of Thredbo, where they will start their ascent to
the summit of Kosciusko, doing a difference of altitudes of some 1,800 meters.
The main difficulties they will find are weather conditions and snow
accumulation, because there is a full winter in August in Australia.
