Joao Garcia summits Gasherbrum 1

A report from his friend is below: I finally got in touch with Joćo Garcia. He is now in camp II, resting after descending from the summit of GI. Joćo Garcia (Portugal) summited on Monday 12h00, local time; Jean-Luc Fohal (Belgium) joined him at 12h15; on the way down they crossed a spanish climber from Carlos Pauner team ("Xavier", Joćo said), who was less than two hours from the summit, which he should have reached about 14h00. He is now also resting in camp 1 II. This is the fifth "8.000" in Garcia's career, after Cho Oyu, Dhaulagiri, Everest and Gasherbrum II. I believe it's the second for Fohal: he climbed GII with Garcia in 2001. Thank you Luķs Francisco
