The members
of the Andalucian expedition, sponsored by Consejería de Turismo, Comercio y
Deporte, have arrived to Base Camp.
The
Sevillan climbers Juan Antonio Huisa and Pedro López, members of the Andalucía
Antarctica Expedition and also members of Siete Cumbres Sports Club, are
already on the Antarctic continent, after two complex trips, from the Chilean
town of Punta Arenas to Patriot Hills and from there to base camp.
The
atmospheric instability and the strong winds, along with the difficulty of the
landings because of the frozen landing strips, made the usually hard trip more
complex, but it was done as planned, so they are already near Mount Vinson
installing base camp.
Huisa and
López's plan, once the camp is settled, is to send detailed information of the
trip with some pictures, but technical and weather difficulties make it hard
to set a date for sending that information.
