The Australian documentary
"Alone Across Australia" was the winner of the Peoples Choice Award and also
winner of jury's Best Film on Mountain Environment award, at the Banff
Mountain Film Festival. Last month the film won the Grand Jury Prize at the
XII International Festival of Mountain Films in Poprad (Slovakia), and also
the Jury's Choice Award at the Taos Mountain Film Festival in the United
States. The film, about Australian adventurer Jon Muir's solo and unsupported
walk across Australia, has won a number of other awards on the international
film festival circuit this year. It won the Audience Award for Best Feature
Documentary at the San Francisco Documentary film festival, the Silver Gentian
Award at the Trento International Mountain Film Festival, the Crystal Heart
Award at the Heartland Film Festival, and the Chris Awards' Chris Statuette at
the 52nd Columbus International Film and Video Festival. The film has been
selected into over 30 film festivals around the world.
