K2 2004 - 50 years later

K2 North: Bad weather: snow and strong winds.  We have spent the entire day in our tents at Camp I, awaiting an improvement in the weather.

This is what Claudio Bastrentaz describes for us via radio/telephone this morning.  Together with expedition Leader Agostino Da Polenza they review the weather reports for the upcoming few days. 

For Monday – not perfect weather, a little snow and strong wind is still predicted.

For Tuesday – already a great improvement with good clearing weather and a quieter wind.

Wednesday is even better with clear, sunny skies and even quieter winds even at high altitude. 

They decide to wait out another day at Camp I, on Tuesday, early they will head up to the higher camps
