K2 2004 - 50 years later

K2 North: The wait is over 

We are ready for our attack.  Not much longer to wait for the climb we have dreamed of, while awaiting at it’s foot, for almost two months. We depart at 2:00 a.m.

Weather reports confirm that our plans are doable so we are planning to go forward. Today, meanwhile, was another outstanding day.  The winds have slowed, confirming that our plans are doable.

At 2 a.m. we will head out on a plan we have awaited and dreamed about for quite awhile now here at base camp.

In Italy, it will be 23:00 hours of a Friday night, filled with tourists intent on having a good time…two opposite worlds, although we too will be having “a good time”.

We are ready, now that the mountain has given us a “date” we are ready to see where that dream will take us, and how far we will be able to go. INSHALLAH
