ALL ON THE SUMMIT! RUMBLE AT BASE CAMP
Rumble at the base camp. Walter Nones, Michele Compagnoni,
Ugo Giacomelli are on the K2 summit, too. Around 17.50 (local time) even
the Spanish team reached the top.

Rumble at the base camp. After 14 hours, Walter Nones, Michele Compagnoni, Ugo
Giacomelli are on the K2 summit, too. They suddenly transmit their feelings to
the base camp.
Ugo Giacomelli defines his first 8000 “quite hard”.
Karl Unterkircher, one of the few men in the world having climbed Everest and
K2 without oxygen within 2 months, declares “I have been quite lucky with my
health!”.
Michele Compagnoni, grandson of the first K2 conqueror, just says “Adriano,
everything’s OK!” (Adriano Greco is in charge of the operations from the base
camp).
Walter Nones thanks Adriano, stressing that: “Hearing from Adriano has given
me the courage to arrive on the summit”.
