K2 2004 - 50 years later

K2 South: reached 8350m!
Base camp, 11 a.m. - 5 of our climbers together with 4
Spanish climbers are going up to the summit. Excellent weather conditions.
8 a.m Italian time – 11 a.m. local time
Silvio Mondinelli, Ugo Giacomelli, Michele Compagnoni, Karl Unterkircher,
Walter Nones together with 4 climbers of “Al filo de lo imposible” and 1
Sherpa headed by the famous Juanito Oiarzabal, have left this night at 1 a.m.
A clear sky and a particularly cold temperature allowed a regular and steady
march that brought them at an altitude of about 8350m. Now they are proceeding
steadily towards the summit with excellent weather conditions.
