K2 2004 - 50 years later

K2 South: Ready for the
attack!
Today is the last day of
relax for the climbers who, weather permitting, will by tomorrow evening start
the long climb towards the high camps. These are the feelings of Marco
Forcatura
We asked Marco Forcatura,
alpine guide and member of the team K2 2004, to share his thoughts with us:
“Today is a fairly quiet day, and the skies remain cloudy. The wind at high
altitude, however, is very strong, which makes climbing at this time,
impossible. We will be waiting quietly until tomorrow evening to see what
develops.”
“The atmosphere here is
pleasant and we are all of one mind, which makes our time of waiting more than
tolerable. Speaking for myself, however, as one who was also on Everest, I
must admit that some feeling of tiredness is setting in."
