K2 2004 - 50 years later

The K2 2004 “video team”: Massimo Cappon and Fabiano Ventura
K2 South: climbers up to the higher camps
Good weather on K2 South. K2 2004 climbers are going up to
the higher camps again. Massimo Cappon and Fabiano Ventura are climbing with
them to film and photograph the ascent.
“Phase 3” of the K2 ascent has begun. The first group of
climbers has left a few minutes ago and is going to reach camp I tonight.
Marco Forcatura, Leandro Giannangeli, Stefano Zavka, Pierangelo Maurizio form
this team. Tomorrow, these four climbers will try to go up directly to camp
III.
The second “wave” of climbers is going to leave tomorrow morning in the early
daybreak, heading to camp II. The names are those of Karl Unterkircher, Walter
Nones, Tarcisio Bellò, Sergio Minoggio, Paolo Confortola and Nadia Tiraboschi.
Their aim is to reach camp III the day after tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the “video team” has moved, too. Fabiano Ventura and Massimo Cappon
have left the base camp together with Enrico Bernieri, heading to the advanced
camp and then to camp I, where they are going to catch on films and photos the
passing of our climbers.
Good news on the communication front: today has arrived, at last, the
helicopter with all the equipment needed to activate the satellite system to
be used to broadcast live the ascent in Italy.
