K2 2004 - 50 years later

K2 North - heading to the deposit camp

Settling in is progressing quickly. Tomorrow we will initiate the removal of superficial snow and a group of climbers will begin to head up towards the deposit camp.

July 1, 2004 - Base Camp K2 North: Today we finally set up the dome and activated the photoelectric system.  A beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky.  Romano and Nives went off on a reconnaissance mission towards the face of the mountain.

Conditions have definetely improved.  Tomorrow a group will depart towards the deposit camp with a some of the equipment.  I will be working to clear some of the superficial snow.
