Finally at the Base Camp! Approximately at 14,30 (Italian
time) the expedition leader Agostino Da Polenza, with the last group of
mountaineers, has reached “Casa Italia”. Here are the impressions of Serafino
Ripamonti, mountaineer, member of the élite climbing group "Ragni di Lecco",
and journalist of the K2 2004 expedition. “We arrived here half an hour ago:
it was a long stage. This morning we left Gore towards 6 am. We had fine
weather from yesterday. It is incredible how the sight of Mount K2 can
reorganize the largeness of other extraordinary tops like Gasherbrum 4, with
its beautiful trapezial shape that looks exceptional from the Baltoro”. "Once
passed away by Concordia” Ripamonti explains” Mount K2 appears and it is
really amazing. The power of this mountain reveals in several ways: Leonardo
Pagani, one of the doctors of K2-2004 and son of Guido Pagani, the doctor of
the expedition of 1954, has been affected until the tears thinking that the
same emotion was felt by his father 50 years ago. To be at the Base Camp means
perceiving in a powerful way the presence of the Mount K2 that raises up over
our heads. It seems like to be dipped in a world of incredible mountains”.
