K2 2004 - 50 years later

K2 North: There is the smell of polenta cooking at the intermediate camp.

Our friends at the K2 North Intermediate camp are busy reshuffling and reorganizing equipment and materials, while they wait for the weather to clear.  Meanwhile, they are dedicated to their “scopone” (a card game) tournament between Michele Comi (currently up 1-0) against Fabio Agostinis.

Last night, in the “kitchen tent”, actually a cloth hung against two dry rock walls (the only possible storage area for the food supplies in this area), there was the appetizing fragrance of polenta and tripe, a dish that serves in good stead to help keep at bay the frigid temperatures
