K2 2004 - 50 years later
K2 South – K2 North The
latest news
The bad weather is hampering
operations on both sides of the mountain where our expedition is still busily
setting up the camps. Hoping for improvements in the weather, the K2 south
camp is dedicating their time to maintenance operations.
June 23rd, 2004 -
Intermediate Camp on K2 North – Base Camp on K2 South
The bad weather conditions
persist at the intermediate camp on K2 North Face. “Unfortunately, if there
is no weather improvement, we will be unable to go forward except at a very
slow pace, “ said Michele Comi this morning.
At base camp on K2 South the
weather is no better. The snow is forcing everyone to remain at base camp and
to dedicate themselves to making additional improvements. We are awaiting the
arrival of about 100 barrels, and the morale of the group is excellent.
Everyone is relaxed and in good spirits.
