Andalucia K2: Together again in Camp IV
The three Andalucian climbers
will begin their descent along with five Italians
Andalucia K2 Expedition,
sponsored by Consejería de Turismo, Comercio y Deporte de la Junta de
Andalucía has just been a few meters short of their objective: the summit of
K2. Climbers Manuel González, Manuel Morales and Manuel Salazar are about to
have shelter and rest in their tents of Camp IV.
At B. C. Fernando Fernández
Vivancos and Rai García Del Moral are still in communication via radio with
the three 'Manuel's of the Andalucian expedition. Above 8,400 the Andalucian
climbers have face a sudden and unexpected change in the weather and have
decided to quit their attempt and go back to Camp IV (8,000 m.) surrounded by
fog. 'Lolo' González has left to meet his teammates and in this moment they
are about to reach C4 back with five Italian climbers.
They still have a hard phase
of their adventure ahead, the descent to the different high altitude camps: C3
(7,100 m.), C2 (6,500) and C1 (6,000 m.) down to Base Camp (5,000 m.) which
will probably begin with the Italians.
