'Lolo' González quits his
attempt and turns back to Camp IV
The three climbers from
Andalucia K2 Expedition, González, Morales and Salazar left around 22:30 hours
from Camp IV towards the summit of K2. Right now Salazar and Morales are in
the so called "Trek", three hours from the summit.
Around two in the morning,
the chief of the expedition 'Lolo' González decided to turn back to camp IV,
because of not being in good physical conditions for the long and hard ascent
ahead, and for being a little disoriented and sleepy. He is already in Camp
IV and a Sherpa from another expedition has been sent to watch him and to be
his companion.
There is permanent
communication by radio with Fernández Vivancos and Rai García Del Moral.
Manuel Morales, from Malaga, was above 8,400 meters when he has informed of
some exhaustion and doubts of reaching the summit. Manolo Salazar is ahead
and he could reach the summit along with Migma Sherpa between eight and nine
in the morning, Spain time.
According to Fernández
Vivancos, Carlos Soria, from Madrid, has reached the summit with the help
of oxygen just a few minutes ago, he had left a couple of hours before the
Andalucians. Kari Kobler, from Switzerland, has quit his personal attempt.
