Alfred Schreilechner Broad Peak and K2 Expedition 2004 update 7

Update 6/13/2004 Mor:  Once again we have been getting up at 5.00 and left at 6.00. Fred was throwing up all night and had bad diarrhoea and felt bad in the morning. Nevertheless everybody has arrived safely on our today’s goal, a place on the Goodwin Austen Glacier about one hour from Concordia. Fred was already feeling better, but he did not keep his dinner. He was really bad in the midday heat and Rory and Maj. Ahmad helped him. My diarrhoea is finally cured and I am felling excellent. Chad was bouldering around in the afternoon and I made great photos of that with K2 in the background. Weather is excellent and it should stay like this until tomorrow. We have only three hours of walking left to Basecamp. Around 16.30 one of our porters showed signs of AMS. We gave him Dexamethason and Nifedipine against it and sent him down the glacier with the aid of some others. Luckily he was still able to walk on his own.
