Alfred Schreilechner Broad Peak and K2 Expedition 2004 update 5

Update 6/8/2004 Askoli: Today we have been getting up at 5.30. At 6.30 we should have been leaving for Askoli, but our LO took one more hour. After a drive without any trouble we have been arriving here at 14.00. Yesterday evening somebody stole a pair of walking poles from me in the hotel. Luckily I have an extra pair with me. My Thuraya is still not working.

Update 6/10/2004 Payu: My Thuraya phone has been damaged, that’s why at the moment I can not send daily dispatches. I have ordered a new one in Islamabad, which should arrive in a week’s time. Yesterday we have been walking to Jhola in cloudy weather, which was fine as it was not so hot. In the afternoon I got some bad diarrhoea which kept me busy during the night. It has become better now after lots of Imodium. Today we are in Payu. The planned resting day tomorrow has been skipped so we will move on to Urdukass tomorrow. The porters have recognized that I have some medicine with me and continue coming with Blisters and cuts. Today I have plastered more than 30.
